Functional skills English Course
Highfield Functional Skills English qualifications at Level 1 and Level 2 are designed to develop the practical communication skills needed for work, further education and everyday life. Learners build confidence in reading, writing, speaking, listening and communicating through real-life tasks and workplace scenarios.
The course covers reading and understanding a range of texts, identifying key information and making comparisons, as well as producing clear, well-structured written documents using accurate spelling, punctuation and grammar. Learners also develop their speaking and listening skills through presentations, discussions and effective communication with others. Level 1 provides a solid foundation in practical English, while Level 2 develops more advanced communication skills and is widely recognised by employers, and apprenticeship providers as working at a GCSE English pass at Grade 4/C for many progression routes.
