Highfield functional skills English Course

Highfield have been working with Falkland College for over 10 years.  We are pleased to be able to offer a new course through Highfield, Functional Skills English.

Functional Skills English qualifications are nationally recognised courses in England designed to help learners develop practical reading, writing, speaking, listening and communication skills for everyday life, work and further study. Level 1 and Level 2 are set at levels comparable to certain GCSE grades; however, they are different qualifications. GCSE English involves more in-depth academic study, while Functional Skills emphasises applying reading, writing and speaking skills in everyday and workplace contexts.

The course will run weekly from 12th May to 6th October 2026, with sessions taking place from 5.00pm to 7.00pm — ideal for those balancing work or other daytime commitments.

The full course fee is £500, and CDS funding may be available for eligible learners.

To find out more about CDS funding and whether you qualify, please telephone 27289 for further information.
